Nature Experiences in Lapinlahti – Hiking, Canoeing & National Landscapes

Head for the Väisälänmäki hill and trace the footsteps of artists along the cultural and nature trail through one of the national landscapes of Finland. Along the route, you’ll find info boards, a lookout tower, a summer café and a traditional campfire shelter.

Known for its beautiful sandy shores, the Älänne area offers three hiking trails, including the well-liked Huuhkajankierros Trail. Along the routes, you can take invigorating breaks at lean-to shelters or campfire sites. In summer, you may want to visit the peaceful natural beaches to enjoy a refreshing swim in the clean waters.

Experience the beautiful Lake Onkivesi by canoe! From the Nurmiranta shore in the village of Tölvä, you can choose from three different canoeing routes. Along the way, you can also explore the history of the Tölvä village and visit the unique round-shaped ecumenical Art Chapel.

Lapinlahti has its own arboretum, a haven of silviculture established in the 1930s. Walking along the winding trail nearly one kilometre long, you’ll find a variety of exotic tree species to admire, complete with info boards. There’s a shelter available where you can relax by the campfire. The arboretum is a great destination for families with children.

Fresh air and the joy of exercise! In winter, you can enjoy nature while skiing. There are numerous cross-country ski trails available in different parts of Lapinlahti.
